BREAKING NEWS!
New Jersey Legislature Passes Medical Marijuana Bill !
January 11, 2010 7:15 PM By Frederic DiMaria, Jr., Esq. A profound sigh of relief can be heard resonating deeply throughout our State this evening as it appears New Jersey’s sick and dying have finally won their right to legally access the immense benefit of medical marijuana. The full New Jersey State Legislature has just now passed the Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act A804/S119 permitting and regulating the state-wide use of marijuana as medicine.
Governor Corzine has previously expressed his intent to sign the bill into law once passed. Subsequently, today’s long-awaited victory represents New Jersey’s pivotal step towards a more rational marijuana policy in our immediate future.
NORML-NJ would like to thank all who have worked so hard to make medical marijuana in New Jersey a reality.
Check back soon at www.normlnj.org for updates to this developing story.

Excellent effort. Congratulations on helping to make my home state a more compassionate place to live.
Thank you everyone..a huge step for NJ!!! How do you get an ID card? and 2ndly the rights to open a for-profit ATC
State by state we will debate!
Awesome!!!! Now Texas perhaps?
Do u have to be terminaly ill?
This is such good news for NJ. 2010 is going to be an exciting year!
The bill that was passed is known as : s119.
So far, there are going to be 6 non-profit ATC’s in NJ. 2 in northern NJ, 2 in central NJ, and 2 in the southern part of the state. When those 6 are up and running, the state will consider adding for-profit ATC’s.
The state has set a list of diseases/illnesses that qualify, with the state to debate on if more should be added later on.
How are you finding the information regarding the ATC’s? I gotta go file some 501-c3 paperwork right now…
the law states that they will have atc’s,a non profit organ to run the atc, only thing i could come up w r hospital run atc s, Just what does atc mean and who do u think will be able to run these facilites
Is New Jersey Violating the law by creating the State as a Monopoly to distribute Cannabis?
Someone needs to start READING the U.S.Constitution.
TITLE 15—COMMERCE AND TRADE
§ 2. Monopolizing trade a felony; penalty
Every person who shall monopolize, or attempt to monopolize, or combine or conspire with any other person or persons, to monopolize any part of the trade or commerce among the several States, or with foreign nations, shall be deemed guilty of a felony, and, on conviction thereof, shall be punished by fine not exceeding $100,000,000 if a corporation, or, if any other person, $1,000,000, or by imprisonment not exceeding 10 years, or by both said punishments, in the discretion of the court.
By NOT letting people grow their own, you are Illegally making the “STATE” a Monopoly, Especially people that want different types of medicine, ONE Plant Variety does NOT suit ALL!!!!!!
Don, I think your arguement falls apart in this instance because there isn’t going to be any trade or commerce among the states in regards to this New Jersey law. The law doesn’t even say that New Jersey allows patients with a medical card from another state to bring their medicine with them in to New Jersey, let alone allow the producers in New Jersey to engage in interstate commerce of their product.
