Volunteer at NORML-NJ Today!
January 13, 2009 By Frederic DiMaria, Jr., Esq., Chairman, NORML-NJAs you may or may not know, NORML-NJ is a volunteer organization and is comprised almost entirely of dedicated individuals willing to sacrifice some of their time for a noble pursuit. As such we heavily rely on the kind generosity of countless people to assist us in our crucial mission of ending marijuana prohibition. If marijuana reform is important to you, it has never been a better time to volunteer a little time for NORML-NJ. With the passage of the New Jersey Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act, the momentum is on our side and we must strike while the iron is hot!
Although there are many ways to get involved, one interesting area in particular that needs immediate help concerns NORML-NJ’s Ballot Initiative to make marijuana the lowest police enforcement priority in various municipalities around the State. These “Low-Pri” initiatives, as they are known, are vital to the reform movement’s forward inertia, have been exciting and rewarding to all those involved and instill a massive sense of accomplishment. We have been making great progress and have initiatives set up in numerous towns and cites throughout New Jersey. Success, as always, depends upon support from people like you. Our coordinator is ready and waiting to speak with you in an effort to determine the best volunteer fit for you, given your particular schedule constraints and skill set. What can I do to help.
Not letting people grow there own is showing me that the Government or FDA wants to be a legal drug dealer. Which will kept the price high. The reason we can’t win the war on drugs is all the big money in it. If drugs got to be so cheap no one would be interested in pushing them. If people are allow to grow there own, the cost would be NOTHING. Who would pay for something they can grow for free. People don’t rob and kill over nothing. That would end a lot of the killing and crime that goes along with the illegal market. Think of all the tax dollars saved in law enforcement. Money is a motivator.

SO. Copied, and pasted, from the LAW–here is where it says that you CAN GROW medical pot-K?
(copied)”An alternative treatment center shall be authorized to acquire 1a reasonable initial and ongoing inventory, as determined by the department, of1 marijuana seeds or seedlings and paraphernalia, possess, cultivate, plant, grow, harvest, process, display, manufacture, deliver, transfer, transport, distribute, supply, sell, or dispense marijuana, or related supplies to 1[registered]1 qualifying patients 1or their primary caregivers1 who are registered with the department pursuant to section 4 of 1[P.L. , c. (C. )(pending before the Legislature as this bill)] this act1.”
medical marijuana wasnt allowed to be perscribed to my pregnent wife who had brain cancer, opiates of all kind’s were allowed, no pill’s have a nutrition value, but a person must eat to surrive. our government offical’s would not allow marijuana to be perscribed, they did however allow death to be perscribed to danielle and our unborn baby who have named, “marijuana” if our officals dont profit, they will allow death’s before cure’s. now they are allowing marijuana to be perscribed but not grown ” in the garden state” we in nj know, the price for an ounce willbe about 5-6 hundered dollar’s! when your on ssi disability, you only get $700.00 a month meaning, unless medicaid pay’s for my pot, i have to grow my own, i could trade opiates for marijuana, but that’s illegal although oxycontin is all over our street’s being abused? i wonder if i could grow a oxycontin tree, if that be illegal? it would save our taxpayers roughly 1500 a month if i could use marijuana instead of the lidocaine patches at 900.00 a month, with oxycontin, moriphine, percocets all payed for by taxpayer’s! dumb when i could grow my medicine and cost our taxpaying people nothing! jreuss@webtv.net

this illegal marijuana issue in new jesey has cost many many million’s of dollar’s imprisoning people of all age’s. my own son who was a calm longhair artist who just started a family had been arrested, his crime was a nonviolent 200.00 drug offence, my son would not take the court’s plea bargan, ie: rat on your friends, so my son has now served 10 years, he went to jail at 18 he is now turning 27. the cost for this 200.00 nonviolent drug offence to our taxpayer’s over 1\2 million dollars for a 200 dollar offence! this was just the imprisonment cost at 39,000 a year to incarcerate a man, plus the state had to pay for my son’s three childern who barley know there father but are well taken care of, by the taxpayers, you got it right! 10 year’s in jail, 39,000 a year, plus medicaid for three childern with food stamp’s, utilities, rent assistance, free medical benifits, all this cost for one person, my young son who was an artist who enjoyed a marijuana cigarette but would not tell who he got his weed from, for this silence he has given 10 year’s in prison, he dont paint any more, his clean skin is lased in hatetrad tattoo’s, what the government has created for this 200 dollar offence is a man that would paint or draw you a picture, now can tell you the fastest way to kill a person with your bare hands. lawmakers who dont plan ahead has turned my own son into a person that simply dont care about life after 10 year’s imprisoned, if lawmakers are going to make animal’s out of nonviolent drug offenders by giving long prison sentences, expect that man to bite once releast. my son is freed from jail in 1 month after this 10 year period of prison for this minor offence that hurt no one but the taxpayers who have given over 500,000 to care for him and his 3 childern while in prisoned for a 200 dollar drug offence, my once mellow son who loved to paint and draw now look’s as though he could bite off charley mason’s head and ram it down ted bundy’s throat, as he kick’s the son of sam to hell, great job treating my son in the department of corruption or is that correction system? when he becomes your neighbor, im sure he will tell you about the happiness he seen in prison, perhap’s draw you a picture before he flip’s out and attact’s for no reason other than, i been in rehabilitation for 10 years, it didnt work. if our state wont allow marijuana to be used by my son after this long imprisonment, the state must be prepaired to spend 39,000 a year on my son for life, we have a great law system, but the problem is we also have assnine lawmakers

mrs ann davis, ofcoarse w understand we can not grow our own marijuana weither it be medical, or magical, its simply a needed medicine. the reason new jersey only, [out of 13 states] wont be able to grow our own medicine is the profit factor that will come into play as soon as we are able to be perscribed medical marijuana by our doctors for pain issues amoung other issues at hand. when any opiate pill is produced by a drug company, that pill is allowed as was oxycontin as long as a state representative support that issue, this example should justify,: ie: rudy guliani was given a 13 million dollar gift from perdue pharm co. for his support along with the fda to allow the laws passing the sales of oxycontin. as we know now, they are dangerous, addicting, and abused, deadly! yet our drug stores cant keep this medicine on it shelves? i say, it is best to allow a man in pain to grow a safe medicine he is asured works for his trouble, yet cost nothing, than attempt to take a medicine that will addict that man to a point where we will rob, steel, and attempt to obtain a medicine that is legal, but, unaffordable, so that man who seeks this medicine has one option, receive help from the government that wont hppen soon, or rob his neighbor so he can optain medicine. what is this reason made by our corrupt offical’s, they will grow, sell, and profit explaining this helps our debt, yet all that will be growing is there bank accounts. will tomatoes and corn be outlawed next year? its our second largest money making crop, this next to the top crop money maker, ‘marijuana’ perhap’s our lawmakers will allow the growing of marijuana in new jersey, as long as all the law makers are the farmers of the marijuana fields, like diamond fields in africa, once the owners of a money making ordeal find unbelievable profits can be made as in marijuana, corruption of that product is only a year away from the day it starts.
NJ finally has medical marijuana laws that will protect the patients, this is a HUGE step in the right direction. Home cultivation should be permitted. However, the legislators have legitimate concerns about abuse and it getting in the hands of kids or teens. After they have an opportunity to get comfortable with the program and realize that marijuana will not lead to disaster, then maybe we can get to home cultivation. One step at a time. Be thankful for what we do have.

I like your positive attitude on the matter. I would qualify for Medical MJ due due seizure dissorder…could be stemed from another debilitating disease I have but no one knows for sure. I have a possesion charge in another state over 10 yrs ago;seizure meds that a doc gave me with no perscription…long story, it was not MJ though. I got a perscription after that incodent and have been struggling with these synthetic meds ever since. Finally legal Marijuana is in sight and I want to not only be a patient but I really want to work in an ATC. I have a state license and was able to explain why I ever got into trouble…I also have a mistermeanor from when I was 17. Part of my convition provisions was incorporated that I retain my Civil rights. Nice to see things moving forward and I want to someday own or at least work in one of these places.The Idea of legally helping people who would benifit from this non-toxic plant is just an amayzing idea. I just cant see ATC’s popping up without going through the due dilligence of zoning and planning issues like all other commercial operations.. unless the make it loose like daycare locations. Any insight on these issues?
